On May 2, 2014, Joseph Flood was accepted and testified as an expert witness on the standard of care and the duties that trial counsel owes to a capital defendant in a capital case in the matter of Willie Scott v. State of Alabama, a capital habeas case pending in the Jefferson County Circuit Court. The case had been remanded for an evidentiary by the Supreme Court of Alabama, and Mr. Flood provided expert testimony to assist the trial court in determining whether trial counsel provided the defendant ineffective assistance of counsel.
